Dr. Jill’s Commentary
I love the name of this bitter blend. Every time I see it, the song Love Potion No. 9 goes through my mind. Which is perfect for mold recovery. This blend of 9 classic bitter herbs is like a love potion to your liver.

If you’ve happened to hear me speak on a video blog, medical presentation, or podcast interview, you’ve likely heard me fawn over bitters. I love to recommend bitters. While not so subtle in flavor, their ability to subtly correct digestive and detoxification imbalances is nothing short of miraculous.

You may be familiar with bitters from mixed drink recipes that call for a splash of bitters to pop the flavor. Well bitters do more than that! They get the digestive juices flowing, which triggers many downstream effects – one of which is to encourage the liver to make and move bile – a critical component of mold detoxification. Bitters were traditionally added to alcohol drinks to reduce the toxic effects of alcohol. They have the same benefit for mold.

Strangely enough, we tend to crave bitter flavors the more toxic we are. Why do you think there’s been a rise in the consumption of familiar bitters, such as coffee and chocolate, in concert with our increasingly polluted and “chemical-ed” world? We need detox help.

I recommend bitters in liquid form because it’s the very act of experiencing the taste of bitter that exerts its action downstream. I like this classic herbal bitter combination with a twist of sweet orange and clove for smoothness, while slipping in the antifungal essential oils of thyme and myrrh. One pump on the tongue before meals does the trick, so one bottle lasts a looooong time.

From The Book
Here are some key points from my book, Break The Mold, so you can see how this PROTECT tool fits into a mold recovery plan.
This picture best describes the steps to recover your health after a toxic mold exposure.

The first solution is to AVOID mold!

AVOIDANCE means getting away from the mold.

FUNDAMENTALS involve specific foods and lifestyle factors that can greatly improve your ability to conquer mold.

PROTECT and REPAIR is accomplished with targeted nutrients to manage the toxic damage from mycotoxin exposure.

FIGHT means conquering fungal overgrowth in your body.
