Got Mold? Spray & Pray Remediation

Dr. Jill Crista takes a look at remediation techniques that work, and those that don’t.

TRANSCRIPT

I want to talk today about building remediation and the method that is commonly called spray and pray. Did you know that one in three remediations have to be redone? I think the reason for this is they don’t remove enough material. There’s too much emphasis and faith based on the spraying method they do. Instead of removing the material, they’ll spray it with the mold stain resistor, which is not a mold killer by the way, and then they’ll seal it. Well, the problem with spray and pray is mold is tenacious and it will grow back. So, when in doubt, cut it out.
