Got Mold? Is Alcohol A Mycotoxin?

Today we are talking about mycotoxins. I’ve had a few questions from people who said, “So what really is a mycotoxin?”. And I’ve in the past described it as gases that the mold secrete to compete with other molds or maybe other bacteria if they find the perfect environment. And I want to tell you about a mycotoxin that you already know about. It’s called alcohol. So brewer’s yeast, the mycotoxin we use for desired effects for things we imbibe; alcohol, liquor, that kind of thing. Alcohol is a mycotoxin of the brewer’s yeast. So just like alcohol taken too much can cause liver failure, kidney damage and death, the same is true for the toxic molds in your house. You can inhale them instead of ingesting them and they have the same affect. So that’s a mycotoxin primer.
