Mold should get an award for being one of the best (worst) mast cell irritants. It’s so good at it, that quite often, when we go looking for it, we find that mold is to blame for a person’s mast cell issues.
But there’s no need to suffer without support! This grouping of supplements has been a steady support for patients needing to be rescued from their mast cell-related symptoms.
One thing to remember is that mast cells can dump hundreds of different inflammatory chemicals. It’s not just about histamine! Therefore, we need to hit the mast cells from a few directions – things that address as many of the chemicals as possible, not just histamine.
That explains why my patients do better taking a little of all four of these helpers, rather than a big dose of one alone (that said though, the Nettles do work best for my patients at bigger doses in the range of 2,000mg daily.)
Perimine: Perilla helps to calm a unique inflammatory chemical called interleukin-4, often related to classic allergy symptoms.
Nettle Hist-Tone: A powerful combination of quercetin and Nettles, a natural source of quercetin. Nettles also help to stabilize mast cells and block some of the receptors, muting the response to agitated mast cells.
Scutellaria Supreme: A source of Scutellaria baicalensis, a natural source of mixed bioflavonoids and bitters which help to calm mast cells and the tissues affected by mast cell dumping. Also one of my favorite Botanical Avatars for PANDAS and PANS.
ProBiota HistaminX: Assists the gut-located mast cells to quell the inflammatory response.
Used together, this blend of Mast Cell Managers and Flame Tamers help to tame the flame of mast cell activation.
