Dr. Jill’s Commentary
As a fellow PANS parent, I know what it feels like to have missed the window of opportunity to have avoided a flare. You know in your heart that something is going to trip the trigger, but you can see how badly your child wants something, so you decide to allow the leap in faith. Then the flare hits.
While Chill Chews are a handy tool to give before the trigger, At Ease is my tool to quiet a fully fledged flare.
GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter naturally found in the brain. It’s a calming agent for the body and brain. When we combine it with the added calming support of L-Theanine, the two play off each other very well to bring a sense of ease and calm.
We get the best results if it can be held in the child’s mouth for at least 1 minute, but this isn’t critical.
Note that L-theanine may cause drowsiness in some children.
