Melatonin make you wired not tired?

What does it mean if taking even a micro-dose of melatonin makes you wired instead of tired?

It means you need it REALLY BADLY!

Melatonin is one of the best brain antioxidants. Antioxidants get rid of inflammation that’s stopping normal body processes. If you’re brain lights up from melatonin, it’s a sign that you have stuck inflammation dulling normal brain function.

The solution, then, is not to curse melatonin. It’s to move inflammation along so you can support normal melatonin levels.

For many of my patients, we have to optimize their cell linings to allow for things to move along — and we do that with phospholipids, the main lipid lining each and every one of our cells. The two main phospholipids are phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylcholine. In fact, simply adding these can help mold-affected people sleep better.

My patients also benefit from other antioxidants, such as Resveratrol, to get the inflammation moving out.

So just remember, Melatonin isn’t the bad guy. It’s the messenger. Rather than shoot the messenger, act on the message so you can conquer mold and take back your health!


Okay so what does it mean if you can’t tolerate melatonin? 

If you take even a tiny bit of melatonin, like 1 milligram, 2 milligrams, and you are wired and you’ve been affected by mold, what that means is you really, really need it. You’re so deficient that once you get that brain antioxidant in there your brain can light up and work again.

So the solution is not to avoid taking it. The solution is to create your own melatonin by getting outside early in the morning; that helps make your own melatonin. But it’s usually a sign that your brain then needs the next step nutrient which is phospholipids — phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylcholine. A lot of my patients who’ve been effected by mold are really low in those so when they get that little bit of brain antioxidant melatonin all of a sudden the brain wants to go. And if doesn’t have enough of the next step then you get wired instead of sleepy.

So for my patients who’ve been affected by mold, we normalize their phospholipids and we start again with teeny, tiny doses which is why I like liquid liposomal. Liquid because you can really titrate the doses. Liposomal because it gets up into the brain faster.

So that’s my little tip. If you’re a melatonin wired person and you’ve been affected by mold that’s probably what’s going on. So you can conquer mold and take back your health.
