Binder Disrupter!

Wondering why I shake up the conversation about mold detox binders? I’ve got a different take on using clay long-term, especially for kids. Hey, I’m Dr. Jill Crista, author of Break the Mold, and I’m here to share why I avoid it and what I use instead to help you conquer mold safely. Ready to take back your health? Let’s dive into why I’m a “binder disrupter”!

Why I’m Cautious About Clay Binders

I’ve earned the “binder disrupter” label because I don’t use clay or zeolite clay long-term for mold. I do not use clay long term and not with little people long term because it can interrupt nutrient absorption. Here’s why:

  • Nutrient Depletion Risk: Clay can bind not just toxins but also essential nutrients, leading to deficiencies.
  • Kids Are Vulnerable: In children, long-term clay use can cause issues like more cavities or stunted growth due to nutrient loss.
  • Short-Term Only: Clay’s powerful, but I use it sparingly to avoid these risks.

Lessons from the Animal Kingdom

Living in farm country has taught me a lot about detox, thanks to local dairy farmers. The dairy farmer in our area does not use clay long term, because it can interrupt nutrient absorption. Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Cows and Calves: Farmers avoid long-term clay for cows because it stops milk production. For calves, it stunts growth and weight gain.
  • Human Connection: Hey, we’re not all that different from cows. Like animals, we need nutrients to thrive, and clay can interfere.
  • Nature’s Wisdom: These lessons guide my approach to safe, effective mold detox for humans.

My Go-To Binder: Fiber Flow

Instead of clay, I love Fiber Flow by Wise Woman Herbals for long-term mold detox. That’s why my favorite binder that I use long term is Fiber Flow. Here’s why it’s her top pick:

  • Insoluble Fiber: Contains psyllium husk to bind bile and mycotoxins without nutrient loss.
  • Gut-Soothing: Includes marshmallow root to soothe the gut, perfect for mold-sick folks.
  • Bile Boost: Features bitters to stimulate bile flow, enhancing detox.
  • No Clay: Avoids the nutrient-depletion risks of clay, making it safe for long-term use.

When and How I Use Clay

I don’t avoid clay entirely; I just use it strategically. Here’s my approach:

  • Short-Term Use: Clay or zeolite is great for specific cases, like bacterial overgrowth, endotoxins, or actinomycetes exposure.
  • Pulsed Dosing: Use clay in short bursts, not continuously, to minimize nutrient absorption issues.
  • Avoid in Kids: Rarely used for children due to their higher risk of nutrient deficiencies.
  • Work with a Pro: Consult a mold-literate doctor to time clay use safely.
  • Combine with Binders: Pair clay with insoluble fiber binders from my store for balanced detox.
