Naturopathic medical school comes with required training on Castor Oil Packs for a reason – because they’re universally helpful for so many conditions. In these toxic times, our systems of detoxification could use some extra help. Detox organs, such as the liver, handle much more than detoxification. In the case of the liver, it’s also tasked with nutrient balance, hormone processing, and blood sugar balancing, to name a few.
Applying organic castor oil over the liver gives a sign to the body to go into parasympathetic mode – this is our ‘rest, digest, repair’ state. This triggers blood and lymphatic flow to the organs, and the digestion kicks into action, resulting in reduced inflammation and enhanced digestive and detoxification function.
But Castor Oil Packs don’t get used as much as they’re needed, because making one’s own pack is a pain, and without a pack, castor oil is sticky and messy.
